Faculty of Health Sciences Prizes

Dean's Scholars Award (P1305)

Awarded annually on recommendation by the Dean or nominee. This prize recognizes the highest performing students who completed the degree* with the highest weighted average mark (WAM) of at least 75, that is, at Distinction level, for the course.

*The degrees comprise of: Each undergraduate (Pass and Honours) course and Each Graduate Entry Masters (Pass and Honours) course including the Graduate Diploma of Rehabilitation Counselling.

The degrees must have at least 3 graduands in the award year. The prize does not carry any financial benefit.

Value of award – no monetary value

University of Sydney Academic Merit Prize (P1278)

The University of Sydney Academic Merit Prize was established in 2007 by the university to recognise meritorious undergraduate students. This prize recognises the outstanding work put in by an undergraduate student for the academic year and is based on AAM.

The University of Sydney Academic Merit Prize is a perfect opportunity to be recognised as the cream of the crop in your faculty for a particular year, it is designed to recognise academic excellence in students. Value $1000.for the University of Sydney Academic Merit Prize.

Exercise & Sport Science Prizes

New South Wales Institute of Sport (Exercise and Sport Science) (P1077)

Awarded annually to the student with the highest aggregate mark in the final year of the Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sport Science) Pass course.

Value of award – $2,500

New South Wales Institute of Sport Honours Research Thesis Prize (P1176)

Awarded annually to the student with the highest mark for their honours thesis in the Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sport Science) Honours course.

Value of award – $2,500

 

Physiotherapy Prizes

Mack Boots (P1476)

The prize may be awarded annually by the Dean of the FHS to the student who achieves the highest overall mark in the Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) Honours units of study. In the event of two or more students having equal marks, the marks from the Pass degree units of study may be taken into consideration.

Value of award – $2,500

Mary Vallas (Vasseleu) (P1300)

Awarded annually to a student with the highest marks in cardiopulmonary academic and clinical units of study upon completion of the Master of Physiotherapy course.

Value of award – $200

 

Rehabilitation Counselling Prizes

ASORC Trevor Hawkins Prize (Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Counselling) (P1121)

Awarded annually to the graduate with the highest aggregate mark in the final year of the Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Counselling course. Only students who are student members of ASORC in their final year of candidature are eligible to win the prize.

Value of award – $1,000 which includes a $560 cash component and $440 one year of ASORC full membership including application fee

ASORC Trevor Hawkins Prize (Master of Rehabilitation Counselling Prize) (P1258)

Awarded annually to the graduate with the highest aggregate mark in the final year of the Master of Rehabilitation Counselling course. Only students who are student members of ASORC in their final year of candidature are eligible to win the prize.
