Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research
The ARC Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research (CEPAR) brings together researchers, government and industry to address one of the major social challenges of the twenty first century. It will establish Australia as a world leader in the field of population ageing research through a unique combination of high level, cross-disciplinary expertise drawn from Economics, Psychology, Sociology, Epidemiology, Actuarial Science, and Demography. The Centre has seven Chief Investigators from the University of New South Wales (lead node), the Australian National University, and the University of Sydney.
The Centre’s mission is to produce research that will transform thinking about population ageing, inform private and public sector policy and yield outcomes that improve the well-being of the aged and their social and economic environment. The Centre is one of 13 centres approved for seven year funding commencing in 2011 under the Australian Research Council’s Centres of Excellence program.
