Our Research Teams

There are nine research teams within the Unit. The following gives you an insight into the teams and some of their areas of research or success.

  • Health care and public policy and health workforce governance: collaborating on an international project examining major issues which are common across the globe.
  • Sociology of health and illness, health in developing countries: is launching the University of Sydney South Asia Research Network.
  • Consumer-oriented healthcare: is helping a U.S. National Institute of Health group to develop community health care arrangements in parts of Africa and South East Asia.
  • Health informatics, computation and innovation lab: is investigating how information technology can help with community-based rehabilitation.
  • Health functioning and statistics: involved with World Health Organisation (WHO) committees looking at health statistics and patterns of disease.
  • Australian ICF Disability and Rehabilitation Research Program: part of a WHO working party developing the international classification on functioning and disability.
  • Community-based healthcare: is working with the state government on how to best recruit and retain health workers in Western NSW.
  • End of life: investigates how death and dying can be better understood and planned.
  • Sexual health: is conducting research on people's attitudes to sexual health, including those of religious leaders.
