Welcome to National Centre for Classification in Health (NCCH)
The NCCH, directed by Professor Richard Madden is an international centre of expertise in the development and use of health classifications. The Centre, part of the Faculty of Health Sciences, forms part of the Australian Collaborating Centre of the WHO Family of International Classifications (WHO-FIC) network.
The Centre is playing a lead role in the development of the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI) and the revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD). Through the WHO-FIC Family Development Committee, the Centre works to develop a wide range of health classifications ensuring their consistency and avoidance of duplication.
NCCH is part of a broad based collaboration between the Faculty of Health Sciences and the WHO in disability, health and rehabilitation. The collaboration brings together diverse skills within the Faculty for a range of innovative work with the WHO.
Understanding and evaluating the use of classifications in activity based funding is a specific interest of the NCCH
