Undergraduate Orientation 2012

Welcome to the Undergraduate Orientation.

Orientation is a great way of knowing more about your course, meeting the staff that will be helping you during your study with us and meeting other students that you will be studying with and building relationships that may last long after you graduate. Orientation is a great chance to ensure that you are well positioned to start your degree.'

Orientation for Undergraduate students will be held on 27 February 2012 at the Cumberland Campus, entry is via Gate 2, 75 East Street Lidcombe. There will be a morning and a mid-morning welcome session, discipline talks, campus tours, access lab and library tours on the day.

An important note for Bachelor of Health Sciences students

The University of Sydney, Camperdown Campus Orientation is scheduled from 29 February to 2 March.  During this time, there will be Bachelor of Health Sciences booth at the Camperdown campus (end of Eastern Avenue in front of the Quadrangle) where you can meet with staff members that can provide you with further information and, as you will  be studying at Camperdown it is an opportunity for you to familiarise yourself with that campus.  We would encourage you to attend one or more days of this Orientation.

 

E- Information Point Posters at Cumberland Campus

To all students with smart phones!  There will be posters around the campus that are bar-coded.  By simply scanning the bar-code with your smart phone, you can access online information to help you.  Get access to our campus map and be guided around the campus, or OHS information for your health and safety around our campus, or get transport information, be directed to food... the library.  So “scan and view” and ultimately join us in contributing towards a healthier planet.

OH&S – Occupational Health and Safety

The Faculty of Health Sciences takes very seriously its responsibilities for the safety of students.  The University has a statutory obligation to provide a safe working environment. Safety in the workplace is a cooperative venture, and staff and students have obligations to contribute towards and maintain safety.

There is a duty of care for all students to be responsible for their own actions, as well as taking care of others around them.

Work Integrated Learning (Clinical)

Clinical & Professional Fieldwork is an integral component of all professional entry programs, both undergraduate and graduate entry masters programs, at the Faculty of Health Sciences. The timing of placements for each program (course) varies,  depending on the design of the program. All students must complete specific pre placement requirements before they will be allocated a placement. Written information on the pre placement requirements has been provided to each student at enrolment. Student are advised to complete these requirements as soon as possible and will be advised of dates when this information is to be reviewed.
