Future Undergraduate Students

If you would like to qualify as a Speech Pathologist, there are two courses. A Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) and a Master of Speech Language Pathology. These independent programs are designed to prepare individuals to practise as qualified Speech Pathologists.

At the undergraduate level, the Discipline offers the following:

Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) - Course Code SH128

This is a challenging and engrossing 4-year full-time degree program (for both the pass and honours levels) that leads to a qualification as a Speech Pathologist. This four year program provides students with research led teaching in the range of communication sciences and disorders studies required for professional competency.

You can find out more about the course on the University’s Course Search database or see the complete course outline in the Faculty of Health Sciences Handbook.

Brief unit of study descriptions. Speech Pathology unit of study codes start with CSCD.

Alternative Pathways into the Speech Pathology Profession

An alternative to the 4 year undergraduate program is to enrol in the Faculty's Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHS) course and select a major in Hearing and Speech. This is a three year full-time course.

See full details of this generic foundation degree on the University’s Course Search database or in the Faculty of Health Sciences Handbook (see table 1.2 for the Hearing and Speech second major).

High achieving Bachelor of Health Sciences graduates will be competitive applicants for the Master of Speech Language Pathology (MSLP) program.

The Master of Speech Language Pathology is a 2 year course. Once you have graduated, you are a qualified Speech Pathologist. Effectively, you will hold 2 degrees, one undergraduate (BHS) and one post graduate (MSLP) degree.
