Bruce Meikle, Chief Information Officer
The CIO provides strategic leadership and coordination to the University’s information and communications technology resources. Bruce has over 28 years experience in the IT industry, with 25 of them in management roles. His experience includes roles in application development, project management, as well as strategy and senior management.
Gabrielle Whelan, Director, ICT Research & Education Services
Gabrielle Whelan is the Director of ICT Research & Education Services. Her responsibilities include Faculty and divisional engagement, provision of research, learning, eLearning and student services.
Gabrielle has over 20 years experience in IT, primarily in Financial Services and Higer Education. Her career began as a CICS/Cobol/DB2 programmer, and progressed through roles that have incorporated operational and strategic management to IT Director at the University of Sydney. Her areas of expertise include project and program delivery, application management and relationship management.
Mat Myers, Director, ICT Professional & Administration Services
Mat Myers is the Director of ICT Professional & Administration Services, a team which works to improve information and technology services for the University's Professional Service Units as well as OGC, the office of the Vice Chancellor and the External Relations portfolio.
Mat has 20 years of IT experience, primarily managing service management and project teams across private, public and education sectors. Prior to his current role, Mat managed the successful implementation of IT shared services here at the University. Prior to that, Mat was Head of Service Delivery at the British e-Government Unit in London where he was responsible for the delivery of over 100 online Government services to UK citizens and businesses. Mat has also worked in numerous well known private sector organisations including Diageo, Optus and Compaq/HP.
Andrew Cooper, Director, ICT Strategic Delivery & Governance
Andrew is the Director of ICT Strategy & Governance Services at the University of Sydney. His area of responsibility is ensuring that ICT provides the resources and management to deliver strategic projects, maintenance of IT security, change and problem management.
Andrew has extensive experience in the education and IT fields. Before joining ICT, Andrew was the Head of Learning and Information Technology with Catholic Education, Diocese of Parramatta. Here he was responsible for the delivery of technology solutions to 75 schools. Andrew has held a diverse range of senior positions while working for organisations such as Freehills and Gartner. While at Gartner, he led the IT Architecture and Technology consulting competency for the Asia Pacific region. He holds bachelor degrees from UNSW in Computer Science and Law.
Geoffrey Brown, Director, ICT Solutions & Engagement Services
Geoffrey Brown is currently the Director of ICT Solutions & Engagement Services at the University of Sydney. His team is responsible for researcher and student support, Helpdesk and Field services, as well as sourcing and provisioning.
Geoffrey has over 25 years of IT experience, and an extensive and varied background in management. Prior to his employment at Sydney University ICT, he has worked in numerous IT management and consulting roles with companies such as MLC, Lend Lease, NRMA and Railcorp. More recently, Geoffrey was an IT Director for Asia Pacific at Deloitte, and also delivered IT Program Management at Qantas.
Mark Pigot, Director, ICT Infrastructure & Operations Services
Mark Pigot is the Director of ICT Operations & Infrastructure Services, a division within ICT that provides the University's ICT infrastructure, including the University Data Centre, networks, security, disaster recovery and training.
With over 24 years of experience in the IT industry, Mark has had a range of roles in organisations like AMP, Reckitt & Colman, EDS, and the Commonwealth Bank. He is experienced in strategic and operational IT management, in both local and global contexts, and in a wide variety of technologies. Mark is a proven specialist in IT Risk Management & Governance as well as in IT Infrastructure Management in both inhouse and multi-sourced environments. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) from the University of Sydney, and a Certified Information Security Manager accreditation from ISACA.
Angie Morton, Executive Officer, ICT Business Management
Angie Morton is the Executive Officer of ICT Business Management, a team which sustains effective and efficient support services based on high quality customer-focused approach to service delivery, and enables the functioning of ICT for the University.
