ICT has over 300 staff in several locations across the University. Below is a high-level introduction to the different portfolios and what each of them is responsible for.
ICT Research & Education Services
This team provides a conduit for communications to improve information and technology services for faculties, schools and related organisations. The team manages relationships with the executive, management and technical staff including deans, heads of schools and computer support personnel. The team is also responsible for transitions into ICT Shared Services.
Working closely with the Education, Research and International portfolios and the Provost, this team plans for services that support learning and teaching, student administration, eResearch and research management.
ICT Professional & Administration Services
This team provides a conduit for communications to improve information and technology services for the University's Professional Service Units as well as OGC, the office of the Vice Chancellor and the External Relations portfolio.
The team manages relationships with the executive, management and technical staff including heads of professional units and computer support personnel. The group is also responsible for transitions into ICT Shared Services.
ICT Strategy & Governance Services
This team empowers decision-making by providing guidance through policies and enterprise architecture.
It provides resources and management to deliver strategic projects by managing risk through effective and efficient IT security, change and problem management.
ICT Solutions & Engagement Services
This team is focused on the active shaping and delivery of service offerings through multiple sources to meet or generate demand, and provide excellent customer experiences.
It has a focus on academic outcomes, wherein it ensures that ICT offers excellent value efficiently. The team is responsible for researcher and student support, Helpdesk and Field services, as well as sourcing and provisioning.
ICT Infrastructure and Operations Services
This team provides the University's ICT infrastructure, including the University Data Centre networks, security, disaster recovery and training.
It provides efficient delivery and management of ICT systems, platforms and foundational technologies. It ensures reliability through effective monitoring, maintenance, support and continuous improvement. Its focus is to protect the University's IT Services and data through data back-up and recovery services, as well as perform high quality vendor management to leverage service providers for optimal business solutions.
ICT Business Management
This team sustains effective and efficient support services based on high quality customer-focused approach to service delivery, and enables the functioning of ICT for the University.
It is responsible for all administrative services that support ICT's activities. It serves as the foundation of internal operational efficiency and effectiveness, and is responsible for improved service delivery from external professional services.
