As part of the creation of the new staff intranet content from this website has been moved to Ask Sydney under "What is video conferencing?". This website will be removed in May 2013 so you may need to update your bookmarks.

Video conferencing

Go to the ICT Self Service Portal to set up a VIDEO CONFERENCE (select ICT Services > Audio visual > video conference request).

Video conferencing (VC) uses audio and video to bring people at different sites together for meetings, lectures, conferences or one-on-one teaching.

The University has over 60 video conferencing (VC) sites around NSW. We can also connect to VC equipped rooms in external non-university locations. Conferences can simply involve two sites, or for larger conferences three or more sites can be bridged together.

When you book a video conference, we can set it up for you and provide telephone assistance to ensure that your conference runs smoothly and everyone’s connected.

Screen sharing using Bridgit

You can share your desktop screen during a video conference using the Bridgit collaboration tool. After joining the video conference, all participants will need to launch Bridgit on their computers. The host site then opens a presentation such as PowerPoint allowing all sites to also view it.

This is an effective way to share screen content and also allows participants to view the live video of the presenter separately to the presentation material.

For instruction on how to use Bridgit please refer to the User Guide. And go here to download Bridgit.
