Wireless access
If you’ve connected to the UniSydney or UniSydney-guest networks in the past, you’ll need to remove the network from your device and reconnect to the UniSydney network.

Connecting to the University wireless network
Students at the University of Sydney can connect to the internet using your laptop or mobile phone. The name of the wireless network is UniSydney and, provided you are in the vicinity of a wireless access point, should automatically appear on your list available wireless network connections when you enable wifi on your device.
To connect to the University wireless you:
- Enable wireless on your device.
- Select UniSydney from the list of available wireless networks.
- Click Connect or Join.
- When prompted for your credentials, enter the following:
username: your UniKey (eg abcd1234)
password: your UniKey password - If you receive a warning to intall/trust a security certificate, click Connect or Accept.
Where are the wireless access points on campus?
Most library and union buildings have wireless access coverage, however the strength of your connection will depend on your distance from the wireless access point. To view the wireless hotspots on each campus, view wireless coverage maps below.

Conditions for using the University internet service
The following conditions are extracted from the University's Information and Communication Technology Resources Policy.
Use of the University’s ICT Resources is restricted to legitimate University purposes only. For students this generally means academic coursework and research as approved by a supervisor.
The use of University ICT Resources through non-University (including personally owned) equipment is also subject to this policy. To assist Users to understand the implications of the above condition the following examples of prohibited and permitted use are provided. These examples are indicative only.
- Limited minor and incidental personal use may be allowed, but it is a privilege and must not interfere with the operation of ICT resources, burden the University with incremental costs, interfere with the User’s employment or other obligations to the University and is subject to compliance with University policies.
- Users should be aware that personal use of the University’s ICT Resources may result in the University holding personal information about the User and/or others which may then be accessed and used by the University to ensure compliance with this, and other policies.
- Use of ICT Resources is not considered private. Users of ICT Resources should be aware that they do not have the same rights as they would using personally owned equipment through commercial service providers.
- The University also reserves the right to look at and copy any information, data or files (including non-University material) created, sent or received by Users using, or while connected to, the University’s ICT Resources in the event of a suspected breach of this or other policies.
