The University’s international vision is to work “for the benefit of Australia and the wider world, attracting the best and brightest staff and students.”
The portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor International supports these aims by providing high-level strategic leadership on international issues across the University.
Its objective is to maintain Sydney’s position in the front rank of world universities and strengthen the University’s international reputation. The portfolio leads the University’s drive towards international engagement and assists the spread of internationalisation within the University.
Its work includes partnership building with universities, governments and international agencies; the provision of international services to students and staff; the organisation of international forums; and the accumulation of new resources including grants and scholarships.
The portfolio is divided into three sections:
Manages off-shore academic delegations and events, VIP visits to Sydney and the International Forum and World Fellows programs. Directs the International Leaders Program formerly administered by RIAP. Visit the Sydney World Program.
Provides strategic advice via regional development managers, with a focus on building effective partnerships and networks. Seeks funding for scholarships and research projects from governments and international agencies. Coordinates University-wide regional expert groups.
Fosters the University’s involvement in global university networks and manages the International Program Development Fund, supporting international research projects. Provides online resources including the International Handbook and designs the portfolio’s communications program.
