Partnerships and grants

The International Agencies and Governments Program (IAGP) offers University faculties and divisions highly specialised services in the development and management of international programs and projects.

IAGP identifies international funding opportunities, and develops and submits grant and tender applications to build cross-disciplinary collaborations in strategic-directed research, capacity building, education and staff/student mobility. These are developed in concert with other DVC programs and deans.

In 2010-11, IAGP made an important contribution to the growth of international initiatives at the University of Sydney. The program secured more than 40 projects to a total value of over $10 million in a wide range of disciplines, including medicine, public health, governance, human rights, agriculture, sustainable development and economics. IAGP also played an important role in overseeing the implementation and financial management of international projects in priority regions.

Key funders included the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and its Executive Agency, the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), the United Nations System and the European Commission. The various partnerships with these funders form part of a broader strategy to ensure more targeted engagement with multilateral organisations and bilateral agencies, and find the most appropriate models and modalities of collaboration to link international demand with academic supply of knowledge and expertise.
