A PhD in Physics from the University of Sydney will provide you with a gilt-edged entry card to a research position with the most prestigious R&D organisations in the world. Our PhD graduates have found employment with universities and research institutes in the US, Europe and Asia while others have taken up senior roles in industry.
The two pathways to admission to the PhD program are by obtaining a Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with first class honours from the University of Sydney or an equivalent qualification from another university or institution.

International students should note that scholarship applications close by 31 July for commencement in the semester 1 of the following year, or by 31 December for commencement in semester 2, so you should contact us a year in advance of your commencement to plan your project.
