Sarina Solar - Manager, Marketing and Recruitment

Ms Sarina Solar, Manager of Marketing and Recruitment at the Koori Centre, University of Sydney, is an Indigenous woman, descendant of the Andyamathanha people in South Australia. Sarina has completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Aboriginal Health and Community Development) at Yooroang Garang, The University of Sydney.

Sarina began her career as a Student Support Officer at Yooroang Garang and since graduating in 2000 has worked in Aboriginal Health Education and Aboriginal Sexual Health Research in government and non-government organisations.

In 2007 while working at the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council Sarina implemented a NSW state wide research project titled: Sexually transmitted infections and blood-borne viruses in Aboriginal communities in NSW: ‘A Survey of young Aboriginal people in NSW regarding knowledge, risk practice, and access to health services’. This research project is the first of its kind in Australia to use innovative technology by collecting the data using Personal Digital Assistance.
