We are located within the Brain and Mind Centre at The University of Sydney, giving us access to large patient populations, world-leading clinical experts and purpose-built facilities.
The Brain and Mind Centre
In late 2016 we relocated to the state-of-the-art, custom-designed premises at the University of Sydney’s Brain and Mind Centre. The Brain and Mind Centre aims to address and reduce the enormous impact of disorders of the brain and mind through real-world and real-time multidisciplinary and collaborative research and education.
Work at the centre spans preclinical, clinical and translational research. It extends beyond laboratories and clinics to strong partnerships with industry, government, the community, and other healthcare providers and researchers. The multidisciplinary, patient and community focused mission of the Brain and Mind Centre is an ideal match for our bold research program.
Clinics and core research facilities at the Brain and Mind Centre
There are 11 clinics at the Brain and Mind Centre that span neurology, neurosurgery, developmental disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, neuro-inflammatory diseases, and youth and adult mental health. These clinics provide access to large patient populations and world-leading clinical experts for the Initiative’s target disorders and diseases.
The Brain and Mind Centre has a number of core facilities that facilitate and support innovate, fundamental and clinical research. These includes facilities for:
- brain imaging
- microscopy
- neurophysiology
- research computing
- the Multiple Sclerosis Australia Brain Bank.
Dedicated Lambert Initiative facilities at the Brain and Mind Centre
In addition to the clinics and core facilities at the Brain and Mind Centre, our purpose-built facilities include several dedicated floors of the Brain and Mind Centre. The majority of our facilities are now operational, with the final stage of construction on schedule for completion in the second half of 2017.
Our premises at the Brain and Mind Centre spans several floors. This location is used for:
- cannabinoid extraction and purification
- cannabinoid analysis in both plant and a range of clinical and preclinical biological samples
- analytical chemistry
- human blood, urine and tissue handling and processing
- preclinical research
- cellular research
- research examining DNA and RNA
- electrophysiology
- driving simulation.
