Enrolment
The University of Sydney reserves the right to cancel units of study, which do not reach the minimum enrolment four weeks prior to the advertised date. Classes are capped at 20 students. To guarantee your place in a unit of study, your enrolment and payment should be finalised at least eight weeks prior to the commencement of the unit.
Payment of Tuition Fees
The tuition fee rate is AUD $4,320 (2012) per unit.
Payment can be made by credit card or bank draft. Payment by bank draft should be in Australian dollars (AUD), made payable to the University of Sydney, and be drawn from a bank that has a branch in Australia. Payment must be made at least eight weeks prior to commencement of each unit.
Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSA fee)
In October 2011, the Australian Parliament passed the Higher Education Legislation Amendment (Student Services and Amenities) Bill 2010, allowing universities to charge a Student Services and Amenities fee (SSA fee) of up to $263 from 1 January 2012 (indexed annually thereafter) as an initiative to increase student support and services in Australian universities. The University of Sydney will be charging the fee from 1 January 2012. The fee will be calculated based on the student’ semester load (i.e. full time / part time status) and will be charged on a semester basis. There will be a new component of the HELP scheme, called SA-HELP, which will allow eligible students to defer the payment of their SSA fee. For further information, please visit HECS and Domestic Fees Office website
FEE-HELP (Australian Citizens only)
FEE-HELP enables eligible postgraduate coursework students enrolling in an award course to obtain a loan from the Commonwealth Government to cover all or part of their tuition fees incurred. Please visit the going to uni website for further details on the scheme.
The Request for FEE-HELP assistance form will be made available to students upon request. Please ensure that you provide your tax file number or a certificate from the ATO stating that you have applied for one when you enrol. You will not be able to participate in FEE-HELP without your tax file number.
