LAWS6003 - Reproduction & the Law
Objectives
- Consider legal issues relating to reproduction.
- Situate the legal issues within their broader social context, with reading materials interdisciplinary and comparative in nature. Student participation in class discussion will be expected.
Content
Wrongful birth; prenatal injury; wrongful life; abortion; the rights of the foetus; reproductive technology (including legal regulation, eligibility for treatment, access to information, research using embryos, surrogacy); sterilisation and intellectual disability.

Assessment
- 1 x Class Presentation and Paper (20%)
- 1 x 8,000 Word Essay (80%)
