The President, John Fletcher launched Geoffrey Farmer's latest book, A true printer, John Kirtley and Heemskerck Shoals, with a response by the author. Mike Hudson (Wayzgoose Press), Harrison Bryan (Piscator Press), Alex Bolton (Brindabella Press) and Nick Summers (Escutcheon and Catnip) spoke about their experiences as private press publishers, with displays of their private press publications.

1987 14-Oct         To mark the tercentenary of the publication of Newton's Principia, and the Library's rare annotated first edition, three speakers participated: Dr Andrew Osborn, who was Librarian when the copy was presented to the Library; Mr Robert Blomfield, who handed the copy to the Library on behalf of his aunt, Miss Barbara Bruce Smith; and Associate Professor John Mack, who discussed Newton's contribution to scientific knowledge.
