  • Borrow from any University of Sydney Library.
  • Recall items on loan.
  • Using the links below, and the name and borrower number on your Alumni Library Card, access the eResources listed from your home or workplace.
    We are unable to provide off-campus access to all our electronic resources, due to publisher license provisions that restrict access to current staff and students.
  • Visit any of our Libraries for on-campus access using Community Desktops, to the majority of Library electronic resources.
    The platforms you are not eligible to access on-campus can be found on the restricted access page.
  • Link to high quality and trusted websites and free online resources selected by our subject experts.
  • Ask us now for subject-specialist support and to find answers to common questions.

Are you about to complete your studies?

You can apply for a free 12 month alumni Library membership within the first year after completing your studies.

To access our electronic resources

Use the links below; using our regular electronic resources links throughout the website will not work. You will need to use the library borrower number found on your library card.

Subscription databases for alumni  
Austlit: Australian Literature Gateway References to Australian authors and their works.  
JSTOR for individuals
Use the free Register and Read option for individuals, which lets you read up to three articles every two weeks. You first need to set up a personal registration (MyJSTOR Account) for access.
Macquarie Dictionary
Jan 2016: Temporarily unavailable to alumni
Search the Macquarie Dictionary Fourth Edition - Australia's national dictionary and thesaurus. The Macquarie Dictionary is constantly updated with new words as they enter our language.

A large multi-disciplinary database including full-text journals, with indexing and abstracts for more, covering humanities, social sciences, education, health and medical, science and technology, business and management.
Which eJournals are available in Proquest Central?
Check if the specific titles you want are available in Proquest Central by searching the catalogue for the title, then ensure that there is a link to the journal which says "Full text available from Proquest Central".

Sage Journals Online Full-text journals covering Health, Life, Materials and Social Sciences, Engineering and Humanities. Terms & conditions
Scopus is a large multidisciplinary database that provides citation analysis of authors and subject areas.
Alumni Library Members have only access to references and abstracts and not the full-text.

Friends of the University of Sydney Library
The role of the Friends of the University of Sydney Library is to support the development and promotion of scholarly resources of the Library. It does this by discovering and acquiring rare works that cannot be purchased out of core Library funds.

Sydney University Press
Sydney University Press is the publishing arm of the University. It has taken a leadership role in the digitisation of University of Sydney publications, including the Sydney University Press backlist. A print-on-demand service is now available.
