Services for Schools
The University of Sydney Library provides the following services to Schools:
High School Students in year 11 and 12 can borrow a limited number of items from the Library by signing up to the SchoolsLink program.
These fee based membership categories do not include off-campus access to Library databases and journals.
Use of Computers and Online Resources
Computers and online resources are primarily for the use of staff and students of the University of Sydney. All visitors to the Library must abide by the Information and Communication Technology Resources: Use of University Information and Communication Technology Resources (ICT Resources): Policy
and the conditions of use for licensed databases.
Visitors who wish to access online resources should sign in at an information desk to be allocated a password for temporary access.
Printing & photocopying
The University of Sydney Library photocopying and printing service operates on an online card system. Library photocopiers and printers do not accept coins. You can find full details of how to obtain the cards and cost at the printing and photocopying facilities page.
Training and room bookings
Class visits to the University Library can be arranged via the Library’s Communications Coordinator
Training rooms are heavily booked for University staff and student use during semester. Outside of semester time, rooms may be requested for class visits for a maximum of two hours. Room bookings are dependent on availability and cannot be guaranteed at any time.
As Library staff are not usually available for training community groups it is expected that teachers will prepare their students for visits by using the training resources available on the website including those at our Information Skills web pages. Especially recommended is Find that book as the call numbers in our collection can be very long. We also recommend search smarter, search faster.
The best place to start is our guides, which provide an overview of what we make available for each subject area.
