Ferrier, David, 1843-1928
The functions of the brain.
London : Smith, Elder, 1886.
2nd edition, rewritten and enlarged
This is the second edition of Ferrier's great book and summarises his landmark work on anatomical localisation of function in the brain. Although he was trained first in psychology and then in clinical neurology it is his animal experiments using electrical stimuli which are remembered today. His work was the basis of the modern diagnostic approach to neurological disease.
