The SciTech Library

The University of Sydney SciTech Library was opened by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Michael Spence on Friday 25 July 2008.

The Library is located on the 1st Floor of the Jane Foss Russell Building and was designed by John Wardle Architects, winners of an international design competition in consultation with staff of the Library and Faculties and students. In the last decade, the digital revolution has radically changed the information environment and the library design reflects the requirements of researchers, teachers and learners in this new era.

Everyone is welcome in the SciTech Library. The collection has been built in consultation with the SciTech Library’s core clients: staff and students of the Faculties of Architecture, Design and Planning, Engineering and Information Technologies; the Schools of Chemistry, Geosciences, Information Technologies, Mathematics and Statistics, Molecular and Microbial Biosciences and Physics from the Faculty of Science; and linked units such as the Electron Microscope Unit.

The Library spaces facilitate interaction and communication; support use of ICT and include facilities for projection of images, large write-on surfaces and flexible furnishings. Multipurpose rooms provide venues for training, studying, presentations and discussions. Included in the design is a multipurpose stage area, electronic and print notice boards, whiteboards, projectors and other collaboration and communication facilities and tools.

Your feedback about Library services is welcome.
