9.2 How to find journal articles

If you know the title of the journal article, you can either type the ARTICLE TITLE in CrossSearch in quotation marks, OR look up the  JOURNAL TITLE in the Catalogue.

If you do not know the titles of journal articles or your lecturer has asked you to find additional references, you can find articles in journals by using databases and ejournal collections.

The link to the Library's databases and electronic resources is a tab on the Homepage.

Databases and electronic resources:

  • provide access to the content of journals within broad or specific subjects areas
  • also index collections of essays, conference papers, websites, book reviews and research reports
  • often provide full-text online versions of articles
  • allow researchers to identify and locate key journals in their subject areas
  • allow citation searching

However, not all titles or publications indexed or listed in databases are held in the Library. You will need to check the link to the Library's Catalogue to see if we subscribe to them.
