Getting a Thesis

University of Sydney Theses

Print copies of all University of Sydney Ph.D. and Masters (Research) theses awarded up to 2014 are held in the Rare Books and Special Collections Library, located on Level 1, Fisher Library, Camperdown Campus, University of Sydney.

These theses cannot be borrowed but may viewed by staff, students and members of the public at the Rare Books and Special Collections Library. The Conservatorium, Health Sciences, Nursing and Sydney College of the Arts libraries also hold some theses, search the Library catalogue. Some theses awarded prior to 2014  may be freely available on open access, search the Postgraduate Theses Repository to check availability.

Theses awarded from 2014 onwards are freely available online to all staff and students of the University of Sydney. Many are also freely available on open access to members of the public. Search the Postgraduate Theses Repository to find the thesis you want and to check access.

Purchasing a University of Sydney Thesis

For theses that are not digitised or available on open access, we accept requests from all Libraries and private researchers within Australia and internationally for copies of whole theses. All requests for copies of material held at the University of Sydney Library must comply with the Copyright Act of 1968.

* If the thesis is already digitised, you will find it in the Postgraduate Theses Repository. If it cannot be located, digitisation will be required and the cost as per the above table.
