Dr Eddie Holmes
Dr Eddie Holmes will be working closely with the School of Biological Sciences and SEIB/SIBRN on a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Australia Fellowship.
Dr. Eddie Holmes is currently Verne M. Willaman Chair in the Life Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University where he has been a faculty member of the Department of Biology since 2005. Dr. Holmes received his undergraduate degree from the University of London (1986) and his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge (1990). Following that, he performed postdoctoral research at the Universities of California (Davis), Edinburgh and Oxford. Between 1993-2004 he held various positions at the University of Oxford, including University Lecturer in Evolutionary Biology and Fellow of New College. His current research focuses on the evolutionary genetics of RNA viruses, with special emphasis on the major mechanisms of virus evolution, the molecular epidemiology of important human pathogens, and the evolutionary processes that underpin viral emergence.
We look forward to Eddie joining the SEIB/SIBRN team in late 2012.
