The 2013 update of the Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in HIV-Exposed and HIV-Infected Children has been simultaneously published on the AIDSinfo website and as a supplement to the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal. In addition, executive summaries that highlight the objectives of and major changes in the guidelines will appear in the Journal of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal.

The updating of the Guidelines represents an enormous level of commitment, effort and expertise, and I would to thank each of you for your rigorous assessment of evidence and your patience through endless revisions and reviews. Your contributions are the reason we have an excellent final product that will be used far and wide to enhance the care of HIV-infected children.
