Professor Anne Kelso is an immunologist, appointed this year as Chief Executive Officer of the National Health and Medical Research Council.
Professor Anne Kelso has taken over as the CEO at the NHMRC at a crucial time. Australian health and medical research is a great success story, admired around the world and providing incalculable benefits to health and health care. But the environment is complex, with competition for research funding at an all-time high and success rates for individual researchers at an all-time low. Into the mix is the Medical Research Future Fund, now legislated. In this lecture, Professor Kelso looks at the future of Australian health and medical research, stresses, challenges, opportunities.
The lecture will be followed by a discussion with the panel comprising University of Sydney researchers.
