Biographical details

Kate is an Addiction Medicine Specialist and Public Health Physician based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Her work combines clinical care of individuals with alcohol, drug and tobacco dependence; work promoting the health of communities; research and teaching.

Research interests

Kate's research focuses on alcohol and drug use and reducing its impact on health. Her work includes both a public health and a clinical perspective. She has a special interest in early detection and intervention for alcohol problems, and on putting best evidence into clinical practice.

Over the past 10 years she has had the opportunity to work collaboratively in research with Aboriginal agencies and communities, in their efforts to address substance misuse.

Teaching areas

Kate's teaching inlcudes coordination of the Graduate Diploma and Master of Indigenous Health (Substance use). She also teaches students in medicine and public health.
