xCelligence Real Time Cell Analysis Systems
xCelligence Real Time Cell Analysis (RTCA) systems employ noninvasive impedance microelectrodes in automated high-throughput microplate formats for label-free, real-time monitoring of cell proliferation, cell size/morphology, cell-substrate attachment quality, and cell invasion/migration. Our facility has a xCelligence RTCA SP (single 96-well plate) system and a xCelligence RTCA DP (dual purpose) system.

Cell Energy Metabolic Analysis
Seahorse XF Analyzers measure the oxygen consumption rate (OCR) and extracellular acidification rate (ECAR) of live cells in a multi-well plate to interrogate key cellular functions such as mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis. The instruments perform compound addition and mixing, label-free detection, and automatic calculation of OCR and ECAR in real time. Click here to see the publications using the Seahorse XF Analyzers. You can search the list of Seahorse XF publications by research area, cell type, cell line, XF assay or author via the link.

LumiCycler
LumiCycle performs high-throughput luminometry on self-luminous tissues, such as those from transgenic animals containing the luciferase gene. The system is equipped with 4 photon-counting photomultiplier tubes, each selected for low dark counts and high sensitivity in the green portion of the spectrum at which luciferase emits light. 32 tissue samples, each in a 35 mm Petri dish, can be counted at one time. 8 dishes share each photodetector using a turntable device that alternately brings each dish under the detector, one at a time.

Mechanical Cell Strain Instrument
- STREX Mechanical Cell Strain Instrument ST-140-04 (unidirectional stretch, multiple chambers) (Room 616, Molecular Bioscience Building G08) (User Manual) online booking
STREX Mechanical Cell Strain Instrument (unidirectional stretch, multiple chambers) is an automated instrument designed to hold up to 6 strain chambers with precise uniaxial mechanical strain. The robust and easy to use design ensures that cells grow over long periods of time with regular cyclic stretching or compression. This unit allows you to control the frequency and degree of the strain to produce 64 unique strain settings. The instrument fits in a standard cell culture incubator.
