Characteristics of the HASI

• A screening test, not a diagnostic test for intellectual disability
• The score indicates "Refer for further assessment"or "No referral"
• Administered individually, not in a group
• Takes about 5-10 minutes to administer
• Covers a wide age range – 13 to adulthood
• Culture-fair assessment
• Can be used with victims/complainants or offenders as a screening test
• Suitable for use by probation and parole personnel, police, solicitors and barristers, corrective services staff, juvenile justice workers, alcohol andother drug counsellors, forensic and correctional mental health professionals

Test Kit consists of:

• Manual
• Transparent marking sheet for Puzzle sub-test
• Record booklets for recording the answers and scoring (pack of 25)
• YOU need to supply two pencils/pens, one for administrator and one for testee, together with a stopwatch or watch with a second hand
