Welcome to the Discipline of Paediatrics and Child Health
Teaching and research in paediatrics at the Sydney Medical School is based primarily at The Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW), which is one of the world's most modern and technically sophisticated hospitals, combining high quality technology with innovative, award-winning building design. The hospital provides a comprehensive child-focussed, preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation service. A high emphasis is placed on education and research.
The majority of medical students at the Sydney Medical School attend the Children's Hospital at Westmead as part of their paediatric specialty block. Each year we have 15+ Pre-Internship placements, and provide elective placements for local (Sydney and interstate) and overseas medical students.
Within the Discipline there are over 100 postgraduate students (research - PhD, MPhil; coursework - MMed (Paediatric Medicine))
