Surgical Training Room
The Surgical Skills Training Laboratory is adjacent to the Cardiac / Resuscitation Simulation Room and the Cardiometabolic Simulation Room. It has been designed with surgical scrub sinks with a plaster trap, stainless steel benches for easy cleaning and AV smart board to enable video feeds from the other rooms.
Surgical training programs will also be commenced in line with the College of Surgeons requirements for Surgical Training including minimal invasive surgery, as well as anaesthetic skills training for things such as cirocoidectomies.
The design of this room beside the Cardiac / Resuscitation Room means that skills can be practiced in the surgical room, then taken into a multidisciplinary theatre setup in the Cardiac Lab, where the skill can be integrated into a ‘real life’ patient scenario, whilst also observing the teamwork, communication and effectiveness of care for the patient, to optimise patient safety.
