Our Partnerships

Save Sight is a research centre of The University of Sydney, and incorporates the Discipline of Ophthalmology, which is responsible for the teaching of ophthalmology and research skills to undergraduate and postgraduate medical, ophthalmology, research and vision science students.

Through the discipline of ophthalmology, Save Sight Institute is responsible for training 80% of ophthalmologists in NSW.

Save Sight Institute is a proud partner with a number of important organisations that share a similar goal of eliminating blindness, and who can each contribute in unique and important ways to our operations.

Key Funding Bodies

Sydney Eye Hospital
Save Sight Institute is located on the historic and central premises of Sydney Eye Hospital on Macquarie Street in Sydney. This co-location in the CBD vision hub has important benefits for the treatment of patients and for clinical trials, research and teaching.

National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation
Since 2000 the National Foundation for Medical Research (previously known as Sydney Foundation for Medical Research) have previously provided the Save Sight Institute with critical funding, enabling the continuation and expansion of laboratory and clinical research projects.

The Lions NSW-ACT Save Sight Foundation
In 1985, Save Sight Institute was established with seed funding provided by the Lions NSW-ACT Save Sight Foundation. This support has continued over the years, with the Lions providing critical funding for clinical equipment and technology to support excellence in service delivery through the Save Sight Institute Clinic. The generous and hard-working volunteers who are at the heart of Lions Clubs have played a key role in making Save Sight Institute what it is today.
