The Discipline of Clinical Ophthalmology and the Save Sight Institute have a distinguished history as a centre of excellence in the teaching of ophthalmology and research skills to:

- graduates seeking a specialist career

- ophthalmic registrars
The discipline offers a wide range of education programmes designed to complement any stage of a student’s career in ophthalmology and through participation with the Sydney Eye Hospital training program, the discipline and the Save Sight Institute are responsible for training 80% of ophthalmologists in NSW.
