Overweight and Obesity
The Loozit Program
Overweight and obesity among adolescents and children is emerging as a major health crisis for Australia, with rates approaching 25% in school-aged children and adolescents, an increase of 20% since 1996.
The Loozit program, a pilot program designed by Professor Louise Baur (pictured right), aims to tackle obesity by intervening in adolescence.
Loozit offers a neutral space for group discussions that cover issues like healthy eating and self esteem. After six months of the program, participants achieved dramatic weight loss.
