Under the combined medicine entry pathway, students can combine an approved undergraduate degree with the four-year graduate-entry Medical Program.

Up to 30 domestic and 10 international places will be offered for the combined medicine degrees. Australian citizens who completed their qualification overseas must apply via the UAC domestic process. International applicants who are not Australian citizens should refer to Applications and Interviews for further information.
In addition, up to 5 further places will be offered each year for ATSI applicants who obtain a rank of 95 or higher.
This opportunity is limited to applications for the Science (Advanced)-Medicine or Medical Science-Medicine pathways.
Course profile
The combination of other undergraduate degrees and medicine offers the opportunity to study subjects from other faculties (including Arts, Economics & Business, Engineering, Music and Sydney College of the Arts). Combined with the emphasis on practical, problem-based learning in the Medical Program, the combined pathway enables students to develop a strong background in a broad range of areas.
Once the approved undergraduate degree is completed, normal Sydney Medical School progression requirements will apply as the student enters the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) program.
Professional recognition
Graduates are eligible for registration by medical boards in all Australian states and territories and in New Zealand.
The Sydney Medical Program is also recognised by the World Health Organization, and our graduates are able to practice around the world (subject to country-specific requirements).
Career opportunities
One year of internship is required prior to registration. Most junior doctors make their career choice during their second postgraduate year, most commonly opting for general practice or one of the other specialties.
Other careers for graduates include medical research, teaching, medical administration, medical communication or journalism, consulting and overseas aid work.

Domestic candidates for these combined programs who achieve an ATAR of 99.95 will automatically be offered an Outstanding Achievement Award. No application is necessary.
