Infectious Diseases and Immunology teaches in the Sydney Medical and Dental Graduate Programmes, as well as the Bachelor of Medical Science and Bachelor of Science degrees and Postgraduate Coursework programs in Infection and Immunity.
Our expertise lies in the area of study of micro-organisms and the pathogenesis of infection, and basic and applied immunology, including immunological responses in infection, auto-immune disease, allergy and cancer. Our research programmes aim to contribute directly to improving the health of the Australian and international community by undertaking research targeting current problems and the development of new drugs and vaccines. Many of the research programmes involve formal and informal collaboration with colleagues in other university disciplines, teaching hospitals and Commonwealth and State Departments of Health, as well as active collaborations in Asia.
