This year the Faculty of Medicine is offering 60 Summer Scholarships to bright young students and applications are now open.
Summer Vacation Research Scholarships offer a unique opportunity for students to obtain experience in health and medical research. Participants get a fantastic insight into the research process and an opportunity to test whether research is for them. Interested students can chose a project from the list now available on the website.
This program is an award winner too, taking out the 2005 Vice-Chancellor's Award for Support of the Student Experience.
Summer Vacation Research Scholarships provide:
- supervision by well-established researchers
- excellent research facilities
- $200 per week tax free stipend
"The Summer Vacation Research Scholarship program aims to connect bright student minds with our distinguished researchers," commented Andrew Coats, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. "With over 40 affiliated centres of research excellence covering most areas of health and medical knowledge creation, we have a lot to offer aspiring young medical researchers," Professor Coats said.
The scholarships are open to students (local and international) currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate science, medical or equivalent physical or natural science degree in Australia and New Zealand universities. Students currently enrolled in the University of Sydney Medical Program are also welcome to apply.
