Faculty of Medicine takes to the Surf

City to Surf

Around 220 participants from the Faculty's Clinical Schools, research institutes and student body took part in the City to Surf as part of the 150th anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine.
Among the total were 30 school children from Wilcania, Broken Hill and Menindee on the annual 'Outback to the City' trip assisted by staff from Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health. All participants finished the 14km route, motivated by the beautiful views and the promise of a dip in the ocean. Some outstanding performances were achieved with Professors David Lyle and Michael Peek completing in respectable times.

As the runners and walkers gathered to rest their feet and enjoy lunch there was already talk of plans to make this an annual event aimed at promoting a healthy and active lifestyle and in raising the profile of the Faculty of Medicine.
