Improving undergraduate education in Sri Lanka - The Galle Project

In February 2006 The School of Rural Health will be hosting a delegation of six senior academics from the University of Ruhuna in Galle. This is an historic seaside city at the southern tip of Sri Lanka.

We can all recall the many sad events of the Tsunami in December 2004 and particularly the devastation brought to the region of Galle. The Medical School was severley damaged and the loss of life was tragic.

This new program funded by the World Bank and known to us as the "Galle Project" is a wonderful opportunity to assist in improving undergraduate education in Sri Lanka. The specific expertise that the University of Sydney will offer is training in Rural Health at the Dubbo School of Rural Health.
