Australia Fellowship for brain and mind expert

Professor Ian Hickie from the University's Brain and Mind Research Institute has received a $4 million Australia Fellowship from the National Health and Medical Research Council it was announced today.
The Fellowship, which is part of $36 million funding from the Commonwealth Government, has been awarded to highly regarded researchers in the fields of cancer, infectious disease and mental health.
Professor Hickie's Fellowship will allow him to expand his population-based research and development of mental health strategies on the importance of environmental factors such as infection, inflammation and alcohol and substance abuse exposure on the risk of developing non-psychotic mental disorders.
