$6 million for BMRI

16 May 2007
The Brain and Mind Research Institute (BMRI) has received $6 million from the Federal government to support the building of research laboratories concerned with tumour research and with the amelioration of pain. These laboratories will house new researchers, internationally recruited and world experts in their fields, who will occupy 2000 square metres of new laboratory fitouts.

The BMRI is concerned with amelioration of both psychiatric and neurological diseases within a multidisciplinary framework. The Institute supplies cutting edge technology and a wide range of research expertise for both its research professor and their teams as well as for the 62 research laboratories associated with the neurosciences on the main campus and in the University’s teaching hospitals.

This latest grant brings to $31 million the government support for the BMRI within the last eighteen months.
