Simulation Workshop

A workshop was held on 0 September 2010 to address opportunities for University of Sydney health faculties to enhance their usage of simulation technologies in education. An initiative of the Sydney Medical School Dean and coordinated by the Workforce Education and Development Group, attendees were invited from Sydney Medical School, Sydney Nursing School and the Faculties of Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Education and Engineering. A representative from QANTAS also attended.

Two sessions were held. The first was led by Associate Professor Peter Cosman and looked at the broad strategic issues and potential for collaboration across Sydney University. The second, led by Associate Professor Leonie Watterson, focused on responding to Commonwealth funding priorities under Health Workforce Australia.

The workshop generated excellent discussion and many potential areas for development in simulation were identified. The Workforce Education and Development Group will now work with key leaders in this field across the University to develop potential projects for review before a second workshop is held.
