We hope you all had a great break, we know some of you have been on overseas adventures, learning about medicine in countries outside of Australia, or perhaps even other parts of Australia that offer a different experience from Sydney! However you spent your Christmas we hope you have returned rested and ready for another exciting year.

Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology
Northern staff and students were well represented and recognised at the Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Toxicology (ASCEPT) Annual Scientific Meeting in Perth this week.
John Mach (first year PhD student) was awarded the prize for the best toxicology poster presentation for his research on mechanisms of paracetamol toxicity in old age. Sarah Hilmer was awarded the society's Teaching Excellence Award.
Trevor Parmenter Annual Lecture
Vulnerability and risk: managing tensions inherent in the support of people with intellectual disabilities.
This is annual lecture is presented by the Centre for Disability Studies to celebrate the contribution of Emeritus Professor Trevor Parmenter. The 2012 lecture will be given by Professor Tony Holland, who holds the Health Foundation Chair in Learning Disability at the University of Cambridge.
When: Wednesday March 7th 2012 – 6.00 -7.00 pm, followed by light refreshments
