The room was packed for the much anticipated ‘Breakfast for the stars’ last Wednesday 31st October. This now annual event which started in 2011 is just one way we like to show how much the Northern Clinical School appreciates the support of each and every one of our tutors.

The main attraction (apart from the delicious breakfast!) was in the form of the great debate, this years topic was ‘ The Surgeon’s wand is mightier than the physicians potion’, ably debated by A/Professor Margaret Schnitzler and Dr Greg Gard, against the opposition Professor Cate Storey and Professor Gin Mahli. Supporting them in the entertainment arena was our own Ben Lau who was demonstrating his amazing card tricks at the tables.

A final vote showed the argument on the day was won by the physicians, but more importantly the event was enjoyed by all!

Nur Afrainin Syah

Congratulations to Nur Afrainin Syah, who is supervised by Northern’s own Associate Professor Chris Roberts, for her recent achievement in the Indonesia poster research competition. From a strong field the panel of judges needed to narrow down the competition based on research design and data analysis, conclusion and contribution, and design, quality and clarity of the presentation.

I am pleased to announce that Nur's poster on ‘Strengthening Professional Identity: The Experience of Indonesian General Practitioners’ was awarded first place! Nur will be honoured at the upcoming Australia Awards Alumni Professional Development Activity held in BALI: “Better Health: Strengthening National Health System”

Congratulations Nur!
