Charles Perkins Centre appoints Associate Academic Director - Education

It is with delight that we let you know that Associate Professor Chris Roberts has been appointed as the Charles Perkins Centre’s Associate Academic Director – Education and will lead the development of its Education Strategy. Chris will also chair the Centre’s Education Committee, whose role will be to provide advice and recommendations to the Centre’s Executive Committee. Chris’s other roles include the Deputy Director of Northern Clinical School, Hornsby Campus and Director of Community Engaged Teaching and Learning for the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education) portfolio.

The NHMRC Council and Principal Committees have now been announced for the next triennium. There are five Principal Committees, comprising over forty wide ranging experts from consumers, ethicists, researchers and health practitioners, which have been appointed to support Council and the CEO of NHMRC. There are several University of Sydney members on the Principal Committees, including our very own Leslie Burnett from Northern Clinical School, who is on the Human Genetics Advisory Committee (HGAC).

Congratulations to Professor James Isbister!

Fantastic news that our very own Professor James Isbister is part of the NH&MRC Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) that has been awarded to Monash University.

James is a Chief Investigator on this national project which although based at Monash, will have major input from Sydney Medical School associated hospitals. This is in addition to his role as the current chair of the Massive Transfusion Registry steering committee.


Welcome to Liam Brennan, our new Facility Officer in the Kolling

Liam Brennan is the new Kolling Facility Officer who will be responsible for managing the room bookings for Levels 5 and 7 of the Kolling Building and will be located on Level 6 of the Kolling Building. Bookings for these levels can still be made via the online booking form.

Liam will also be responsible for managing the new meeting room booking software (BookIt) that will be implemented in the new Acute Services Building. The room booking system for the new Acute Services Building is not yet functional so please be patient. Staff will be notified when they are able to make room bookings via the hospital intranet.
