3 Minute Thesis Practice Session

3 minute thesis

From Left to Right: Mohit Arora, Paul Heinrich, Claire Johnston, Alice Kane, Lisa Kouladjian, John Mach, Burcu Karlsson, Indhu Subramanian.

On August 8th the Northern Clinical School/Kolling held its first ever practice 3 Minute Thesis session. There were 6 students who had a go at describing their complicated scientific projects in only 3 minutes to a non-scientific audience, and everyone did so well!!

The students spoke, then received some excellent and helpful feedback from our judges - Burcu Karlsson and Claire Bridgman from the Northern Clinical School, and Paul Heinrich who ran some great communications workshops last month at the Kolling.

Mohit Arora won the first prize for his engaging talk, with second and third places going to Alice Kane and Indhu Subramanian.

City to surf successful run

Well done to Executive Officer Claire Bridgman for completing the 14km City to Surf in 98 minutes, and raising a fabulous $450 towards the Xray equipment for Coolah hospital (a rural hospital in western NSW)! We did ask for a picture of Claire crossing the line but she informed us that by that stage she was looking a little worse for wear and would rather not…. Its not too late if you wish to support this cause, you can contact Claire directly for more details on

If you would like to contribute to this newsletter, or have any feedback, please contact Claire Bridgman.
