Biographical details

Dr Andrew Chan is a Consultant Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Physician. He is a Senior Staff Specialist in the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at the Royal North Shore Hospital. He is also the Director of Prevocational Education and Training, and Chair of the Network Committee for Prevocational Training. Dr Chan is a Senior Lecturer at the Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney, and the Co-chair of the Dental and Orofacial Special Interest Group of the Australasian Sleep Association.

Dr Chan has completed higher level postgraduate clinical training in Sleep Medicine (Level 2) through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He has a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Sydney for his research into the use of oral appliances for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnoea. He has research publications in high-impact international medical journals and has been an invited speaker at research conferences. He has ongoing active research interests in Sleep Medicine (including a current Project Grant from the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia as Chief Investigator).

Dr Chan is a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, Australasian Sleep Association, American Thoracic Society and European Respiratory Society. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians and the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology.
