Biographical details

Being an integrated scientist with skills in molecular biology (2011 University Medal in UNSW) and bioinformatics, my early research has bridged wet-lab biology and dry-lab bioinformatics, making notable contributions to the new class of diagnostic exosomal biomarkers that enable researchers worldwide to undertake similar studies. In recognition of my work, I was awarded the Sawyer Medal for Outstanding PhD Research Achievements at the University of Melbourne. After completing my PhD in 2016, I transited from a neurology research field to cancer research. In 2017, I was part of the team at Melanoma Institute Australia that received the highly competitive CINSW Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Translational Cancer Research.I am an active member of various professional societies including ASMR, EACR and COMBINE. I have received scholarships/bursaries and grants from prestigious funding bodies including Wellcome Trust and EMBL for my research and conferences.

My research goal is to reshape the molecular determinants of response, resistance, toxicity and survival in order to improve outcomes in patients diagnosed with cancer (Melanoma) and chronic diseases (Neurodegenerative Diseases and Hepatitis C Virus). My current research involved Phase I, II and III clinical trials in advanced metastatic melanoma, particularly focus on identifying molecular biomarker that correlates with response and resistance to cancer therapy. She designs and implements a scientific channel for high-throughput biomarker discovery using next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics for selecting patients who will obtain maximal benefit from treatment without experiencing drug toxicities and resistances to improve patient outcomes.
