Biographical details

Currently, I am the lead Investigator of a Cancer Australia grant ($500k in funding) in tumour tracking. In 2017, I have also been awarded a NHMRC Early Career Fellowship to develop a novel Multi-modal Adaptive Tumour Tracking (MATT) to make external beam radiotherapy more accurate and precise.

My research achievements in radiotherapy include the development and investigation of the world-first real-time tumour monitoring, currently being used in 3 clinics in Australia, and the first implementation of an image driven automatic treatment adaptation system. Both of these achievements are significant milestones in radiotherapy and have gained both academic attention at conferences and national media coverage, showcasing my ability to adapt and innovate in medical technology research, having recently transitioned from biomedical engineering to medical physics.

I finished my PhD in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Sydney in 2015 in novel non-invasive imaging of lung functions. During my PhD, I developed the very first successful implementation of the contrast enhanced Electrical Impedance Tomography technique for detection of blood clot in the lungs, validated on a large animal model. The work was a collaboration effort between Electrical Engineering at Sydney University and Westmead Cardiology Research.

  • Artificial intelligence in medicine

Teaching and supervision

In previous years (2015-2017), I was the main lecturer for ELEC3802-Fundamentals of Biomedical Engineering at The University of Sydney.

I have also been supervising/co-supervising honour and Master students in Electrical and Software Engineering.
